Greg (Snow) BrienGreg (snow) Brien...As a farmer in a small community such as wellington there are those stories of depression and suicide that have plagued our farming community, and when you lose friends and neighbours to suicide and fighting depression, it is time to step forward and start making decisions and actions that will halt or minimise mental health issues in my local community |
germaine richI have lived with a mental illness for most of my adult life. I use my lived experience of recovering from a mental illness to instil hope and optimism in the lives of many people suffering with mental health issues in our local communities. FAMOUS-live to shine is a great platform for all of us to try and demystify some of the unfounded myths around all mental illnesses. I am really passionate about breaking down the stigmas surrounding mental illness, and being the voice for those people who cannot find their voice, who feel down trodden, and who are definitely our most vulnerable people in our communities. I am excited by this opportunity to put mental health under the spotlight, bringing "US" fringe dwellers out of the darkness, and into the light, so that everyone can have equal citizenship in our society, and everyone can " live to shine ". |
Brad RogersBradley Rodgers is an energetic young man who has lived his entire life (28 years) in the Bodangora community. Bradley has a wonderful understanding and empathy for those living under difficult circumstances, through having his own personal experiences and has gained a deep understanding of stigmas associated with mental health issues. |
Lizzy RichLizzy Rich is a passionate Wellington local who has been raising funds for various not-for-profit organisations for a number of years. A wife to Aaron and mother to two boys Archie (7) and Albert (4), Lizzy and her family live on a farm in Suntop, Wellington. As a daughter of suicide Lizzy remembers the taboo surrounding the loss of her mother and wants to encourage more open discussions and nurturing support for the vulnerable members of our community. |
Sonsera bolesMy name is Sonsera Boles and I am a Community Worker for CentaCare Wilcannia – Forbes in Dubbo. At CentaCare Wilcannia – Forbes we provide a broad range of programs and services to encourage and support people living in western NSW; adapting services in response to specific needs, and developing collaborative partnerships to strengthen the capacity of our rural and remote communities. One of these Programs is our Family & Carer Mental Health Program which aims to improve family and carers coping, knowledge and management skills to enhance family and carers well being and to link them in with other Health Services in Western NSW Local Health District. I personally feel that we need to break down the stigma of Mental Health and show our support and understanding of the issues relating and promote a better understanding within the community. I have several family members suffering with Mental Health and believe this committee is the hance to start getting the word out there. |
